Our first class of Clergy Training on Domestic Violence has completed

Our first class of Clergy Training on Domestic Violence has now completed. Like much of the Southern, U.S. we were impacted by the storms that stormed through. That didn't stop our attendees. We are very proud of the work that they accomplished.

All participants should have or will receive a Certificate of Completion in an email inbox near you. Names have already been turned in to organizations who grant Continuing Education Units for attendance.

Some attendees came only for a class or two to gain information that they needed. In this case a certificate of attendance was issued for those specific classes. It is not the same as a Certificate of Completion.

Our next class will be gearing up late this summer. We hope that you will join us. Participants receive an e-copy of the training manual that we sell in our bookstore, a Certificate of Completion, email support and class handouts. The price is $59 for 6 sessions. This provides 9 contact hours for the Clergy Training on Domestic Violence.

Go ahead and email us at teleclass@hopeforhealing.org for registration information. It's the timely training you need to better minister to victims who are already within your congregation.

We're about to graduate our first teleclass

We're about to graduate our first teleclass participants next week. These pastors now know more about domestic violence and sexual assault than ever before. We're glad to have their participation and are very excited for them.

Our next teleclass will be ramping up just after the 4th of July. This will give everyone a chance to get their vacations in before our next teleclass on domestic violence starts.

Classes are held by phone. Participants call into a central number and enter a conference code to join us.  We are out of the introductory period so the six-week course Clergy Training on Domestic Violence is $50.

The course fee includes all classes, email and phone support, training manual e-book and certificate of completion. It's a reasonable price for timely information. Plus, participants don't have to worry about high gas prices or the challenge of taking a day out of the office.

Scholarships and partial scholarships are available. Email us at hello@hopeforhealing.org to learn more.

Course podcasts will be available later in the summer. A price isn't available for those yet. Be sure to keep checking the blog for more information. You can also follow our executive director on Twitter @gaylecrabtree or join our Facebook page.

As always, we look forward to hearing from you. The comments section below is always available.

Teleclasses provide domestic violence training for clergy

Our teleclasses provide domestic violence training for clergy. The first training that was based on our manual took place in 2009 to over 400 pastors. Since that first training we have received requests for an encore and to provide a more in-depth look at domestic violence and dating sexual assault.

After much thinking and planning we have found an answer. In April, we will begin a series of teleclasses to provide domestic violence training for clergy. We will also talk about sexual assault within the dating relationship.

The course is designed to better equip clergy to help victims of domestic violence who are already within the congregation. It is not 911 or crisis training.

Teleclasses are designed to be interactive. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and are expected to be actively engaged during each session. The six-week series is at an introductory price of $35 and runs from April 6 at 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m for six weeks.

Here's what your course fee buys:
  • 6 interactive sessions
  • 1 copy of Domestic Violence Information for Pastors and Clergy (Those who register within 2 weeks of class will receive an electronic version. )
  • Unlimited email follow-up
  • Supplemental material for certain sessions provided at no additional cost
  • Discounted rate on podcasts and CDs.
  • Certificate of Completion

A limited number of scholarships are available. Please email us for information. Email us at countmein@hopeforhealing.org to register for the teleclasses on domestic violence today. Payments can be proceeds by credit card, Pay Pal. Checks are welcome and will be credited upon clearing the bank.

Youth, church workers and laity are welcome to take our teleclasses on domestic violence training for clergy. Discounts are available for 2 or more people who attend from the same church. Contact us to register a group.

United Methodist Pastors Break Silence of Domestic Violence

.

In domestic violence, the loudest voice raised is not the cries of the victims. It is the screaming silence of the ambivalent. On October 13, 2009 an estimated 400 pastors from across the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church gathered to break the silence surrounding domestic violence. The pastors gathered for the first-ever Holston Conference mandated training on domestic violence. The clergy domestic violence training event marked the cumulative effort of a two and a half years work by a dedicated group of individuals.(Click here for a list of program participants.)

A huge thank you goes to the Rev. Tom Seay and all of the volunteers from Colonial Heights UMC.  They worked very hard on logistics to make event possible. They provided a wonderful meal and added chairs to the aisles to try keep clergy domestic violence training from becoming standing room only.  In short, they did everything possible to make us feel at home. It all came together beautifully.

Comments on the training are welcome. Did you attend the clergy domestic violence training? If so, feel free to make a public comment please leave your message in the comment field below. Private comments can be emailed using this link
