Aaron Tippin concert benefits East Tennessee shelter

Aaron Tippin concert will help end domestic violence. CEASE is an East Tennessee domestic violence program that needs to make repairs to its shelter. Aaaron Tippin, Mike Short and Lindsay Jurek putting their talents together to help raise funds for this domestic violence program . The benefit concert is on May 12 at Nolichucky Vineyard in Russellville, Tennessee.

Aaron Tippin benefit concert for CEASE with Mike Short and Lindsay Jurek
Saturday, May 12
Gates open 4:00 pm.
Concert begins at 6:00 pm.
Tickets are available online via Nolichucky Vineyard for $29.95.

If you want a really cool experience you can meet the recording artists, relax during a wine tasting and enjoy some heavy hor'dourves . These tickets are $100 each. How often are you going to be able to meet Aaron Tippin, Mike Short or Lindsay Jurek? With these tickets you can help the shelter and meet the artists!

We have worked with CEASE in the past and are always impressed at the lengths they will go to help victims of domestic violence.

Can you imagine being a mom with a little boy or girl with nowhere to go? It happens. I have seen CEASE create space for clients who desperately needed it - even though they were at capacity. This organization is that impressive.

Buying tickets locally is easy. Just go to:
Nolichucky Vineyard
Hampton Inn of Morristown
The Fret Store
Ingenuity 101
Rix Copies

The Aaron Tippin benefit concert on May 12 can only help
CEASE make necessary repairs if we buy tickets. If the concert is too far for you to travel, then you can still help. It only takes a few minutes to blog about it and less time to tweet or share the press release link on your Facebook page. Donations through ceasefundraising@gmail.com  are also welcome. Helping victims of domestic violence is a cause that we can all get behind. The concert just makes it fun.

Photos from the pancake dinner

Here are some photos from the pancake dinner on Tuesday night. We appreciate everyone who came out in the miserable weather to make our event a success!

There were many great positive comments about how our ministry is making a difference. Each of our board members said a few words or read testimonies about our services. This helped everyone understand the full scope of our involvement.

Raising funds to keep us online is important (that's why we have sponsored ads) but events like this one are also important tools for networking. There are some exciting things in the future!

Networking done on Facebook and at the dinner is helping to make a self-defense class happen. Word is spreading about our upcoming teleclasses to train clergy. People volunteered with us for the first time and are going to come back later. Many good things are coming together to help survivors of abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.

Earlier this year we said that abuse survivors can make 2011 the best year yet. That's what we're seeing and living. Lots more events are on our calendar that will help raise awareness of sexual and domestic violence. More are being added today so keep watching.

Here are a few photos from the dinner that you can enjoy. Find out more about us on our Facebook page.

Because of circumstances beyond the control of the National Coalition Against Child Sexual Assault (NCACSA) the fundraiser scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 2010 has been postponed.

Blog followers will know that our founder Gayle Crabtree was scheduled to speak at this event. We are hard at work to secure a date that will fit the schedules of both Gayle and the NCACSA.

eBay Mission Fish auction helps us raise funds

Bookmark and Share

A huge eBay / Mission Fish auction is helping us raise funds. Head on over to our auction page to check out all of the neat stuff. Most of the listings are by people just like you. These sellers want to help and are donating a percentage of their proceeds to our organization. Plus, the funds from the listings are guaranteed by Mission Fish (eBay's nonprofit solution) to come to Hope for Healing.Org. It doesn't get any better than that.

Look for the ribbon icon next to the items. This means it's a charity sale! Some of our listings include a poetry book written by a quadriplegic and lots of great items from AmazingStuff2have. We have books signed by our founder plus lots of other auction items that you want to have.

There's lots going on. Why not head over to our Mission Fish site now?

Local Charity Hope for Healing.Org Blogathon Details

Use this isearchigive search engine link to help victims.

The Hope for Healing.Org Blogathon is just around the corner! The event date is set to begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 15. It will run for 24 hours. We'll be posting a special blogroll of all the blogs that will be participating.

Participating bloggers will solicit sponsors. Sponsors can pledge to donate a certain amount per blog post made by the blogger or for however many hours the blogger stays awake. Some sponsors will want to make a one-time donation of a set amount.

Our first sponsor has pledged to donate .25 for each post our ED makes in the 24 hour period. Our goal is for each blogger who participates to raise a minimum of $20 each. There is no minimum or maximum amount. Donations can be made via pay pal, check or money order.

Bloggers do not have to write about sexual or domestic violence. While we do hope that participants will choose to write at least one article on sexual or domestic violence it is not required. Bloggers can write about what fits their lifestyle or blog.

Bloggers who do hit the $20 minimum will receive a free set of notecards as a thank you. These have been made by volunteers of Hope for Healing.Org and by Hope Youth.

All proceeds benefit Hope for Healing.Org and will go to our general fund. This helps us pay the rent and other bills.

Please contact us at blogathon(at)hopeforhealing.org to register your blog today.

Look for more details on the Hope for Healing.Org blogathon to come soon!

We heartily thank Blogathon for allowing us to use their name in conjunction with this event, according to their Creative Commons License.

Mardi Gras Strawberry Plains 2009 Photos are Online!

Wow! Did we ever have fun at the Strawberry Plains Mardi Gras 2009. I'm getting lots of compliments from people who tell me that this was the best year ever. We had a great crew and (as you can tell from the photos) lots of fun!

This photo shows some of the great auction items that were available. There were bath and body baskets, screwdriver sets, truck-tie down sets, crock-pots, jewelry, gift certificates to Amerigo's and Outback Steakhouse, a Jackson electric guitar, Ocoee whitewater rafting passes, items made by Hope Youth and more.

Bojangle's Chicken in Powell was our chicken sponsor. We had a great DJ and lots of fun!

Next year the party happens on Feb. 5, 2010. Mark your calendars now. A party this good is way too much fun to miss!

Strawberry Plains Amazing Pumpkin Patch is Coming

Strawberry Plains Amazing Pumpkin Patch is coming in October. We have just gotten word that about 1,000 pumpkins are going to be arriving.

The patch will be open beginning October 10 from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm. School groups are welcome to come earlier. Youth groups can come later. For the older kids we'll be offering a marshmallow roast two nights a week. This can be booked for groups only and makes a great outing.

We'll have craft booths, pumpkin booths, storytelling, music and food. Hopefully, we'll be able to offer hayrides and lots more. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time Strawberry Plains has had a pumpkin patch. All proceeds benefit the ministries of Hope for Healing.Org. Volunteers are welcome. To join in the fun call us at 933.8769.

See you in October at the Strawberry Plains Pumpkin Patch. The fun happens at 3126 W. Old Andrew Johnson Hwy., Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.

Mardi Gras is the last party before the self-denial of the Christian season of Lent.

Epiphany on Jan. 6th (also known as 12th Night) marks the beginning of the season. It concludes on "Fat Tuesday" at midnight.

The colors traditionally associated with Mardi Gras are purple, green and gold. Each color has its own meaning.
Purple = Justice
Green = Faith
Gold = Power, Hope

Masks are associated with Mardi Gras as are costumes and parades.

At Hope for Healing.Org we find Mardi Gras to provide symbolism for survivors. Many survivors of sexual and domestic violence wear a mask to tell the outside world they are ok. They get dressed in costume every day and go to work or take care of obligations when inside they are crumbling.

The color of purple is used worldwide to represent domestic violence or violence against women. Green is the color used commonly in place of teal to represent survivors of sexual violence. Gold has long been associated with healing and hope.

At Hope for Healing.Org we tell survivors "You don't have to hide behind a mask." It is ok to get help and walk away from abuse.

This is why we celebrate Mardi Gras as our annual fundraiser each year. It is in honor of the millions of victims that we serve each year.

Our annual event is on Feb. 6. Tickets are still available.
