Would  you know how to help a friend who was raped? A lot of people wouldn't. Each person is different so there are no hard and fast answers. What to do and what not to do can be overwhelming. The only tried and true rule when helping is to be as calm as possible. Your calm presence can can very reassuring.

If you have been reading the Hope Blog you know that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. You've also probably heard about our Social Media Speakout. Every day this month we are posting short blurbs that can be used as status updates. Using the updates is easy. Just copy, paste and post to your favorite social media site.

These updates are designed to raise awareness of sexual assault. Today's update has information about how to help a friend who was raped. Hopefully, we'll never need this information but reality tells us that we might. Since it's better to know what to do ahead of time can you tell others about the update? It is an easy way to help others.
