Today's most visible abuser Chris Brown makes headlines again

Domestic violence abuser Chris Brown makes the headlines again. Many of our blog readers may remember when he confessed to one felony count of beating up the popular star Rhianna. Later, he asked his fans for help in resurrecting career. More recently, he was reportedly denied entry into Great Britain.

Last night, he broke down emotionally in front of a crowd while singing "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson. People are wondering if the breakdown was real or a manipulative act on the part of a domestic violence abuser. In truth, no one is going to know. Here, we wish Chris Brown only the best and hope that he is sincerely recovered from abusive tendencies. The one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that no one has the right to hit another person.

Abusers are experts at manipulation. This is part of how they control their victim. Every action and reaction has to be about them. Abusers try to control how a victim thinks. They try to tell victims where to go, what to wear, who to see and how long to be gone on errands. The physical abuse starts later.

No one ever asks to be abused. Yet, 1:3 women worldwide will be a victim of abuse in her lifetime and 1:11 men will be victims of abuse.

If you are a woman or man who is being abused the National Domestic Violence Helpline can give you the support and encouragement that you need.
