Being still

Survivors are busy people. We rush around to give the best of ourselves to family and friends. There is work, school, family, friends, the house to be taken care of, clothes to be washed and hundreds of other tasks that must be done. At the end of the day we collapse, exhausted into our beds. Then we get up the next morning to do it all again.

What we miss out on are the healing moments that come from slowing down.  Taking a moment of quiet now and again can help us heal. Whether it's lingering over a cup of coffee or getting up before the alarm clock, it's those quiet moments that can revitalize us enough to get through the next hour or the rest of the day.

Today,
I will recognize that sometimes healing
comes when I am still.
