Topics covered on Voices of Hope 12/07/10

We talked about the Rape of Mr. Smith on Voices of Hope today. Since it was sent in by a listener we want to post the link on this blog. You can read the story of the Rape of Mr. Smith here.

PTSD was also talked about today. The holidays can be triggering for a lot of survivors and this can bring on the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Distorder. As a survivor it is important to monitor yourself. If you feel that the stress or PTSD is becoming too much for you it is ok to get help. Local mental health centers, private therapists, your doctor and hotlines can all be sources of support. They exist to help.

Hope for Healing.Org has a list of PTSD resources available online. You can access those by clicking here

We also talked about how this survivor has found ways to reframe the holidays by creating new traditions for her family along with strengthening her faith through meditation and prayer. This has helped her better enjoy the Christmas season. Her hope is that it will help you as well.
