The plight of local agencies serving sexual and domestic violence victims

Unless you live under a rock you have heard about how the economy is tanking. We seem to be in a holding pattern where everyone is nervous about how to spend or save their money.

This is also a time when local agencies serving sexual and domestic violence victims need help the most. When the economy goes down violence goes up. Families who are already stressed by living on the margins become stressed to the breaking point. Domestic violence always begins with the small things. First it's the name calling and then isolation. Next it's physical or sexual violence.

Supporting local agencies serving sexual and domestic violence victims doesn't have to be hard on the budget. A few dollars here or there or a coffeepot collection at the office are two good ways to make a difference. Collecting new items can also be a help. An extra .50 for a child's toothbrush isn't much but to a child at a shelter it's worth a million bucks. It's the same way with the $1 bottle of shampoo or hairbrush.

In Knoxville, we are partnering with Hope for Victims to bring relief to the local agencies serving sexual and domestic violence victims. This is a great way to help. Can your church, office or school help us collect the following?
