To Domestic Violence Victims in the Church: An Open Letter

I wrote this article An Open Letter to Christian Domestic Violence Victims in May 2009. Comments have been overwhelmingly favorable. The letter seems to have struck a chord with many people who sit in church.

If you are someone who suspects that a sister (or brother) parishioner is being abused read the above article. Then, share the link with your pastor and share your concerns. Encourage your pastor to read the article and call your local domestic violence agency for support. Advocates with the local shelter or agency can advise your pastor on what to do and teach the pastor how to create a safety plan for victims.

This letter could be a tool that allows sunshine into a darkened room. But it is only a tool. The rest is up to you.
