Today was one of those days that just makes you proud. I had a meeting with two church representatives. They want to learn about domestic violence and find ways that their churches can help. That's exciting because it means that the people of God are finding ways to be the hands and feet of God. Personally, I find that exciting and I am very proud that progress is being made where the church is concerned.
A few hours later though, I took a crisis call. (This made me sad instead of proud.) Another family is being torn apart by domestic violence. They are deeply involved in their church. It will be interesting to see how this church responds. Will the church be there to support this family? Or, will the church be locked in insecure silence?
Time will tell.

This sounds great! I'd love to learn more about what the churches are doing.
I pray they find the strength to break the silence over this issue, and be a source of healing for all involved.
It will be a difficult stand given how the church tends to handle this issue most of time.
I pray they look at the families uphill battle instead of viewing what backlash they may be facing to do what is right in God's eyes, and not the ignorance of this issue that most choose not to see.
I pray that the church will be there to support this family. Too many in the faith community have been silent on this issue and I wonder at times just how many lives could have been saved had someone in the faith community reached out and helped the victims of domestic violence.
