Author Jerry White was an average college student. He, and two friends were following their dream of backpacking through Europe when their lives were changed forever. They had been hiking in a field when Jerry stepped on a landmine. He lost his leg and nearly lost his life.
Later, Jerry White went on to become a leader of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and was co-recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace.
