Full day

Today was great. First off the bat we took a call, followed immediately by a visitor who needed clothing for her family. It was great to help them out. She helped us out also by hanging some of the clothing that were still in bags. We needed this!

Later in the afternoon we had a meeting with an official and some of the other area agencies. This was put together by a swell volunteer! Some really good things may come of the meeting that will not just benefit Hope for Healing.Org but the entire community. There are so many services that are needed here! My heartfelt thanks to each of you who came.

Then later, the evening was spent at the hospital helping a mom who's husband had taken an accidental overdose. We are glad that he is doing well. Our best hopes go out for a full recovery!

Sometimes the good guys win.

A victim's mom came in today to tell me good news. The person who attacked her daughter made a confession when it was time to go to court. He didn't get as much time as she wanted but his admission will make it easier for the family to heal and move on. While still burdened, you could feel a sense of relief. The court part of this ordeal is now over for the family. It's still a long road but the mom left me with the feeling that they are going to make it! I'm very humbled and honored to know this family. My best hopes go to you for a bright future filled with the expectation of better tomorrows!

Celebrating 10 Years Online!

Hard to believe but it's true! Hope for Healing.Org is celebrating 10 years online! We started out as a personal home page in Feb. 1996.

To celebrate we're going to have a special eBay auction. Over the next 10 days many items will be listed. Look for jewelry and estate pieces and lots of others goodies.

This has been an amazing 10 years. We've survived the .com boom, the .com bust and everything in between.

Thank You for being here through it all!

A fallen survivor...

This morning my phone rang with news that no one likes to hear. A beloved client and friend passed away suddenly. She was also a survivor. As a young bride the man she fell in love with began beating her. Years after the divorce, she was able to get away and find love and happiness with another man. No matter how long you are with someone you love it is not enough. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family. As always, if we can help in any way please let us know.

At the same time this call came in a visitor was in my office who needed information. Strong and courageous, I congratulated her on walking away from a nightmare. She seems optimistic and upbeat. My highest hopes are with her as she rebuilds her life.

Life is too short to be a victim of Domestic Violence. If you want out, get help and get out. You don't have to be a victim anymore.

See ya online,

Gayle

Preparing for the Board Meeting

I've just put the finishing touches on the ED report. It's also comprising the base of this month's newsletter. Putting it in writing makes it easier to see where the time has gone. Some days, I wonder how we get it all done. It's nice to see that we are making progress.

One area that continues to fall short is the fundraising. As we go into a new year we'll be exploring creative, fun ways to raise funds. We'll also be recruiting for a fundraising team. Contact us if this interests you.

Look for our newsletter to be out soon. It's filled with information on some of what we've done this past quarter. I think you'll be pleased.

Until next time,

Gayle
